The Goetz Higher Education Scholarship
Fund
The Goetz Higher Education Scholarship Fund, a program of the Liberty
Hill Foundation, is currently accepting nominations from community
members, educators and religious leaders for students matriculating
into or currently attending an institution of higher education for
an accredited AA, BA, BS or graduate degree in any discipline. Established
by Dean Jack Goetz and the Honorable Reva Goetz, this scholarship
fund seeks to provide support to academically qualified students
in need of financial assistance, helping them to reach their educational
and career goals by reducing the financial burden of higher education.
The scholarship committee will distribute, on a competitive basis,
up to $10,000 annually. Individual scholarship awards will range
from $1,000 to $2,500 per year. Applicants who are continually funded
by the Goetz Higher Education Scholarship Fund and who obtain their
degrees may be eligible for additional bonuses of up to $1,000.
However, the amount and number of recipients will be at the sole
discretion of the scholarship committee appointed by the scholarship
donors and the Liberty Hill Foundation.
To be considered for the Goetz Higher Education Scholarship, applicants
must:
- Pursue a minimum of 16 semester or 20 quarter units during
the 2005-2006 school year;
- Demonstrate financial need;
- Submit transcripts as proof of prior and on-going scholastic
success; and
- Be aware that if applicant receives a scholarship, the recipient
must attend the awards reception scheduled for Thursday, August
4, 2005 at 6:00 p.m. at the Liberty Hill Foundation in Santa Monica,
CA (recipient pays for own travel).
Students are encouraged to tell their story to the scholarship
committee through their personal statements, and successful applicants
will show a commitment to reaching their educational and career
goals, as well as contributions to the community.
