Liberty Hill Programs: Overview

Liberty Hill believes the deepest, most lasting social change emerges from community organizing and social movements. For nearly 40 years, we have invested in innovative work in Los Angeles. Liberty Hill is often the first institutional funder of frontlines organizing work and  many campaigns that we "seed-funded" have become national models for expanding economic justice, environmental justice and lesbian and gay rights.

Liberty Hill provides its grantee partners with three key resources critical to success.

Grants.

Liberty Hill awards grants to some of the most innovative and exciting organizations in Los Angeles.

Leadership.

Campaigns.

Liberty Hill brings allies together, forges a common agenda and advances winning campaigns for change.

Powered by Liberty Hill, grantee partners have achieved living wage laws and community benefits agreements, a statewide policy that allows undocumented immigrants to qualify for college in-state tuition and a civil rights consent decree that brought L.A. the nation's largest fleet of clean fuel buses.

Work currently funded by Liberty Hill includes (but is not limited to) campaigns to improve wages and housing for low-income families, reduce toxic exposure in low-income communities of color and advance full equality for lesbian-gay-bisexual-transgender Californians.
