From frontlines to headlines! Take a look at recent news of Liberty Hill grantees.

In February we saw the kind of coverage of Liberty Hill grantees that can result from consistent constructive efforts to reach out to news media. Korean Resource Center had the voter-participation stats to justify an eve-of-the-election story, Latino Equality Alliance was ready with a member who could tell her story when CNN in Espanol came to a conference, and Youth Justice Coalition responded to calls for more police on campuses with information developed over years of campaigning for positive, not punitive discipline at schools.

Gender Justice LA delivered a petition to The Los Angeles Times regarding a controversial article published on February 4, requesting that the publication avoid the use of offensive language and attitudes in covering transgender Angelenos. The issue was picked up by GLAAD (Gay and Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation) and reported on by Huffington Post.
Feb. 19, an LGBT publication based in Texas, picked up the announcement about the new round of applications for grants being accepted by the LGBT Dreamers Fund housed at Liberty Hill and included a photo of a local DACA applicant.
