Liberty Vote! Uniting Grassroots Hustle & Electoral Muscle Across L.A.

Liberty Vote!

At Liberty Hill, we believe the people most affected by injustice should be leading the fight for change—from the community meeting to the protest march to the ballot box.

Creating policies to deal with critical issues that disproportionately affect low-income people of color such as the effects of COVID-19, police brutality, and access to health care, education, job opportunity and safety net programs, will increasingly hinge on the voter participation and turnout of the people most affected by these injustices.

True change will not be possible unless we ensure their voices are heard and their votes are counted.

Voter Guide 2020

Introducing Liberty Vote!

As we head into the generation-defining election of 2020, Liberty Hill is proud to announce the launch of Liberty Vote!, a nonpartisan electoral engagement program committed to voter engagement in disenfranchised communities.

Liberty Vote! includes grants, ballot measure endorsements, and other electorally focused initiatives.

Liberty Vote! Has Three Goals:

  1. Build electoral power in communities most impacted by systemic oppression to win progressive public policy
  2. Build the organizational capacity of grassroots nonprofits to incorporate voter empowerment activities into their programs
  3. Increase voter turnout in areas with the lowest voter participation

Liberty Vote! Will Specifically Fund Organizations Working To:

  • Increase Voter Education and Turnout
  • Develop Leaders
  • Organize to Win Progressive Change

Organizations receiving funding from the Liberty Vote! Initiative have existing community relationships, organizing expertise, and credibility in communities of color and targeted districts with historically low voter participation rates in Los Angeles.

Liberty Vote! priorities:

  1. Grants: Resources for social and economic justice 501c4 organizations to engage, educate, and organize voters.
  2. Ballot initiatives: Support for select initiatives that are spearheaded by grassroots organizers and advance justice and equity
  3. Educational Forums: To discuss electoral organizing strategies, learn more about items on the ballot, and inform electoral giving

Liberty Hill is dedicated to expanding the power of our democracy. Join us in supporting the Liberty Vote! Initiative and help ensure we can continue to build the electoral power and amplify the voices of those with the most at stake in the coming election and beyond.

There’s more at stake than ever in the November general election.

We will be carrying on Gary’s mission this election year as we work to engage and empower voters in low-income communities of color who represent the margin of victory in so many critical races.
