"My dad dreamed at 8 years old to create a safe haven for abandoned and destitute children. Growing up in an 'orphanage,' never once felt like it wasn’t home for me. I have the biggest, most loving family I could've ever imagined. Today I am grateful that I have the chance to help make this world a better place for all people. I am not an orphan. I have immense gratitude for the second chance at life I was given, I do not see myself doing anything but finding a way to give back."

Soma grew up in rural India before coming to the U.S. for high school in Santa Cruz.  She studied Geography at UCLA as a Gates Millennium Scholar and graduated in 2015.  In addition to volunteering in the Philippines after Typhoon Yolanda, Soma most recently interned in the Innovation and Strategic Investments Department of Vital Voices in Washington D.C. 323-556-7202
