CEO Update: Statement on Arkansas Police Violence

August 22, 2022
By Shane Murphy Goldsmith

The latest incident of excessive use of force by police in Arkansas is a testament to the need for urgent reforms. The police violence against people of color that has plagued our country for so long must end.

From Los Angeles to Arkansas, we must raise our voices across the country to make this a reality.

Here in L.A., our grantees and community partners, have been doing the hard work of dismantling systems of oppression and fighting for transformative changes to current punitive methods of punishment and incarceration. We stand with those dedicated to the critical work to build the more just future we seek.

Here are two steps that you can take right now to get involved:

  1. Listen to organizations fighting for racial justice and needed reforms for greater understanding of systemic issues and the complex solutions they propose.
    A) Visit their websites, receive their newsletters, and follow them on social media.
  2. Give to organizations that are committed to fighting for the rights of marginalized people of color.
