This year’s annual Leadership Appreciation Brunch was more than a celebration—it was a powerful call to action. Held at the stunning new Audrey Irmas Pavillion, the event brought together the Liberty Hill community to honor decades of progress and commit to the work ahead to advance equity and justice in Los Angeles

The program opened with a warm welcome from Wendy Cheng, longtime donor activist and Chair of Liberty Hill’s The Out Fund and Circle of Change giving circles. Guests were inspired by an extraordinary lineup of speakers, including Dr. Manuel Pastor, Director of UCS’s Equity Research Institute, and Christina Livingston, Executive Director of the Alliance of Californians for Community Empowerment.

In a dynamic conversation with Liberty Hill President & CEO Shane Murphy Goldsmith, speakers underscored the critical roles of frontline organizers and donor activists in driving systemic change—and the collective power it takes to keep progress moving forward.

“By continuing to support organizers on the frontlines of this work, we are continuing to invest in the seeds they're planting for the future,” said Shane. “There is nothing more important than ensuring those seeds grow—and that’s exactly what Liberty Hill is committed to doing.”

Thanks to the unwavering support of donor activists, Liberty Hill continues its legacy of powering movements that protect families, uplift youth, and defend the rights of all Angelenos to thrive.

As we officially kick off our 50th Anniversary Celebration, the year ahead will feature bold initiatives and opportunities to celebrate Liberty Hill’s legacy while confronting the challenges that remain.

Together, we can make change possible—and build the power needed to advance social justice for the next fifty years!
