Building People Power
We believe the deepest, most lasting social change emerges from community organizing and social justice campaigns. That’s why Liberty Hill is often the first institutional funder of frontline organizing work.
Many of the campaigns and coalitions we supported have become national models for expanding racial, youth, environmental, economic and housing justice, and LGBTQ and gender justice.
Campaigns & Coalitions
STAND L.A. Coalition
Liberty Hill is proud to be a member of the STAND L.A. Coalition, a group of environmental justice orgs dedicated to ending neighborhood oil drilling, establishing buffer zone between wells and schools/homes and planning for a Just Transition away from fossil fuel dependence.
Clean Up, Green Up
Liberty Hill supports a coalition of environmental justice organizations with policy that will “Clean Up and Green Up” three communities by establishing pilot “Green Zones” in Boyle Heights, Pacoima and Wilmington—all neighborhoods with high concentrations of air pollutants.
Right to Counsel
The Right to Counsel Coalition is made up of tenants, organizing groups, homeless advocates, academics, and legal services organizations. The coalition was formed to help end the displacement of families by calling for a Universal Renters’ Right to Counsel for tenants facing eviction, including legal representation, eviction prevention services, and emergency rental assistance.
Our Kids, Our Future
The Our Kids, Our Future Pooled Fund has raised millions of dollars in support of piloting innovative youth development programs with the goal of shrinking the number of arrests and closing youth jails to free up public funds to invest in youth development for low-income youth of color.
Time of Use
We need to understand that when we use electricity matters – not just how much electricity we use. By moving some of our energy use to certain times of day, we can better align our usage to when cleaner energy is more abundant and help protect our state.
