Building an LA for Everybody: SAJE Marks 30 Years of Impact
We’re thrilled to share that our long-standing community partners at the Strategic Actions for a Just Economy (SAJE) celebrated a major milestone this month at their LA for Everybody: The Big 30 celebration—honoring Liberty Hill Foundation in recognition of our steadfast commitment to social justice.
The community celebration was a joyful reflection on SAJE’s incredible 30 years of organizing, amplifying working-class voices to advance housing justice, equitable land use, and climate solutions in Los Angeles. This year’s theme highlighted three decades of community-driven impact and honored progressive champions—including Liberty Hill Foundation and dedicated advocates Randy Renick (Hadsell Stormer Renick & Dai, LLP) and Karen Mack (LA Commons)—for their invaluable support of SAJE’s mission.
As one of the SAJE’s longest-standing partners and funders, Liberty Hill is proud to have played a role in helping advance the organization’s vision and goals. Liberty Hill President & CEO Shane Murphy Goldsmith accepted the award on the foundation’s behalf, sharing, “On paper, we may be two separate organizations with different roles to play, but without question we are one family, one community, one movement.”
Since 1996, SAJE has been a powerful force for economic justice in Los Angeles, leading efforts on strengthening tenant rights, promoting healthy housing, and advancing equitable development. Their member-driven campaigns have secured landmark policies and built sustainable, replicable organizing models rooted in community leadership.
We are deeply grateful for this recognition and remain committed to supporting SAJE, and the many grassroots organizers advancing social justice across the region.
