(2019) Written by Public Counsel and the UCLA Community Economic Development Clinic in collaboration with Eastside LEADS and the Liberty Hill Foundation, this report describes how tenants across unincorporated LA County are facing larger rent increases, higher rent burden, and more evictions than ever before. For example, 56% of tenants in unincorporated LA County are rent burdened, meaning they spend more than 30% of their income on rent. Supervisorial Districts 1 and 2 have the highest levels of rent burden and severe rent burden (spending more than 50% of income on rent).
