Stay Housed L.A. Tenant Rights Event in Pomona

March 2, 2023
By Andres Magaña

Recently, our Housing Justice team joined Stay Housed L.A. community partners—Pomona Economic Opportunity Center, East Side Leads, and Inquilinos Unidos—for the Stay Housed L.A. Tenant Rights event in Pomona. Drawing dozens of local residents, the event featured a full day of tenant rights resources including workshops and free legal advice clinics provided by Public Counsel and BASTA.

The event is part of a Stay Housed L.A. workshop series aimed at informing local residents about their tenant rights and linking tenants to free legal resources. In a partnership between Los Angeles County, the City of Los Angeles, and local community and legal service providers, Stay Housed L.A. works to raise public awareness, provide outreach and education, and offer legal service to tenants county-wide.

The work being done through the program is especially important as Los Angeles renters anticipate the lift of the COVID-19 pandemic-era eviction moratorium on March 31, 2023. Starting on April 1, 2023, landlords will be allowed to continue the eviction process, jeopardizing thousands of renters across the county.

To date, the coordinated efforts by Stay Housed L.A. partners have reached 1M+ tenants, providing workshops and clinics to 12,000+ participants and issuing 10,000+ legal service referrals.
