The start of 2025 has brought profound disruption—and even deeper clarity about what’s at stake. In the first 100 days of a new presidential administration, our frontline organizers have faced relentless political attacks, shrinking public dollars, and a chaotic national landscape. Closer to home, Los Angeles communities are still reeling from the devastating wildfires while navigating an uncertain economic climate that has hit working families the hardest.

Amid these overlapping crises, Liberty Hill’s Fund for Change partners continue to rise.

These grassroots organizations—led by and rooted in communities most impacted by injustice—are holding the line for democracy. They’re defending hard-won gains, mobilizing against harmful policies, and showing what’s possible when communities come together to demand change. And they’re doing it all with far too few resources—often overlooked by major philanthropic institutions yet carrying out some of the most essential organizing work in Los Angeles County.

That’s why Liberty Hill acted swiftly, distributing $500,000 in general operating support to nearly 50 Fund for Change grantee partners earlier this year. These unrestricted dollars provide stability, flexibility, and fuel for groups fighting for reproductive justice, trans rights, housing justice, immigrant rights, environmental justice, and more. We are committed to standing alongside our partners, limited only by our financial resources.

Many of these organizations are tackling multiple crises at once—navigating attacks on immigrants while fighting for tenants’ rights or organizing youth while also responding to environmental hazards in their neighborhoods. These social justice leaders are the connective tissue in our democracy, advancing systemic change at a time when so much feels uncertain.

And still, they persist.

Our partners are calling for deeper alignment, increased collaboration, and sustained investment in organizing. They’re leading efforts for a just recovery from climate disasters, preparing for intensified political threats, and building long-term power block by block, neighborhood by neighborhood.
